We hope families are back into routines and that “back to school” has gone well for your students. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help!
A number of important dates are quickly approaching:
Tomorrow, September 19th, is Photo Day. Proofs will be sent home once they are ready for families to determine if they would like to purchase photos for family and friends. Tomorrow’s school photos are also used for student cards.
Our first PAC meeting of the 2018/19 school year takes place at 6:30 in the library on Monday, September 24th. Please join us to learn more about SMS and how our fabulous PAC works to support our students.
Our SMS Terry Fox run is scheduled for Wednesday, September 26th. We will begin in the gym with a reminder of why we run and then head outside for a school wide run or walk. Students wishing to make a donation may do so in the office with Dee.
Friday, September 28th we are celebrating Orange Shirt Day. Our Indigenous Support Workers, Tara and Molly will be visiting classes to share the reasons behind Orange Shirt Day. Last year we hosted a very powerful SD 83 assembly with many Elders and Residential School Survivors speaking; Tara and Molly will remind us of their voices and the impacts we are living with today. It was fantastic to see the “Sea of Orange” in the gym last year – we are hoping many students and staff will once again support the day by wearing orange.
