Thank you to the Shuswap Community Foundation!

Last year, the Pirate Loppet Committee applied for and was awarded a Shuswap Community Foundation grant of $3200 for our school.  This was made possible by the Geoff and Judith Benson Family Endowment, Joe and Bobbi Johnson Schools Legacy, Letham Family Endowment, Chapman Family Endowment, Dan and Irene Rogers Endowment and Founders Fund. The money has been used, with the support of Skookum Ski and Cycle, who provided “at cost” equipment for our school to have new skis, boots and poles for cross-country skiing.

Shuswap Middle School would like to extend a huge thanks to the Shuswap Community Foundation, to Tom Peasgood and everyone at Skookum and to Pat Danforth, Megan Weir, members of the Pirate Loppet Committee and Steve Rodwell, SMS sponsor teacher.  We look forward to putting our new skis to good use once the snow arrives in Salmon Arm!

This picture shows only a small portion of the wonderful skis, poles and boots we received from Skookum. We can’t wait to get out and try them on the snow!
