Cooking with Culture

At Shuswap Middle School, IEW’s Kaeli Hawrys and Theresa Johnson have been facilitating an 8-week after school Cooking with Culture program. Students learn how to create healthy meals and even come home with talking points for dinner conversation!  Indigenous peoples all over the world have recognized the importance of sharing a meal together and the sense of community it creates. Each week the students create a meal from a recipe they provide, then take home a hot meal to enjoy with their families. They are halfway through the program and it has been enjoyed by all. Bon appetit!
