Shuswap Middle School is a very busy place during drop off and pick up times. Please follow the posted 10 kilometer speed limit, other posted signs and road markings. Please be extra cautious, calm, and alert when entering the parking lots.
Morning supervision begins at 7:50 am. Please note that to ensure student safety, the upper drop off loop by the school’s front entrance will be a staff only zone that is closed to public vehicle use for student drop off.
Morning arrival is a busy time at SMS. Our busiest time is generally from 8:15-8:25 am. To help with this, we encourage families to plan your drop-off point and to allow for extra time.
Our two drop-off points will be:
Up the hill on 30th St, turn right into the lower parking area and exit onto Okanagan.
Coming from 10th Ave, turn right into the Field of Dreams parking area. Please note that this area has a separate entrance and exit.
Bus drop-off area for buses only.
PLEASE DO NOT DROP OFF YOUR CHILD IN THE PUBLIC WORKS PARKING LOT AS THERE IS NO CROSSING GUARD THERE ON THE VERY BUSY ROAD. PLEASE USE THE FIELD OF DREAMS PARKING LOT INSTEAD.
At the end of the day students must be picked up in the lower parking area or the Field of Dreams. If you are picking up from the lower lot, please exit on to Okanagan Avenue via the lower lot.
Please take the time at home with your child to discuss traffic safety and a safe route home. Students are encouraged to cross Broadview using the pedestrian light at South Broadview Elementary or by Field of Dreams where our crossing guard is located before an after school.
