Cardboard Construction Project by Art8

Posted on 2020-10-22 07:00:00 +0000 UTC

The Class of 2025 have had an interesting start to their final year at SMS amid all things COVID19.  Cohorts. Mixed Cohorts. Social distancing. Handwashing constantly. Sanitizing, too. And of course, the wearing of masks in Art and beyond. Soooo, what better way to remember their Gr8 year than to create a mask out of cardboard. The TWIST … it must fit their own face!
In preparation to the project, the students sketched, measured, and planned what style to build. They explored the characteristics of different cardboards and what kinds of textures they could make, they also found ways to shape a mask to the contours of the human face. Students even made a mock-up brown paper bag pattern! Lastly, they learned to safely use Xacto knives and hot glue guns (some for the very first time).
CONGRATULATIONS, Class of 2025, on a project well done!
