Clubs Emerge at SMS!
Hello SMS Families,
As the weather sends us signs of the impending winter, we respond with creating intentional spaces and activities indoors! In fact, as our Indigenous Ed. educators Theresa and Kaeli have taught us, “the Secwépemc People have…recognized this season as a time for gathering together, telling stories, and sharing in community with one another…”
Our clubs are all ran by passionate, master educators who are intentionally creating and sharing in community as we hunker down for the season. There’s always something to do and like-minded people to connect with!
Lunch Hour Clubs at SMS
SMS Book Club – Choose Your Own Adventure together! What direction will you take this club? Depending on students’ interests and input, the SMS Book Club could go in multiple directions: Book-talks? Book reviews? Recommendation round-tables? Mme Reed and Mme Tait have drafted the plan, but the story is yours to create!
When: Wednesdays 11:10 – 11:35 a.m. (Outside Lunch)

SMS Chess Club – Are you a Pawn in someone else’s game, or the Queen of your own destiny? Use both wit and patience to lay traps against your opponents while creating lasting friendships.
When: Thursdays 11:10 – 11:35 a.m. (Outside Lunch) until Spring Break

Environmental Leadership Club – Partner with passionate educators and students to spearhead projects and campaigns to improve our carbon footprint and sustainability legacy at SMS. As Greta would say, we’re “never too small to make a difference”. Make that difference by joining today!

Friendship Group with Indigenous Ed. – Connect with two of our most talented knowledgeable educators at lunch hour in the Indigenous Education room! There is always something on the go, and the energy is always positive, welcoming and safe. See you there!

Pinterest Club – Much talked about and much revered, it’s one of the longest running clubs at SMS. Shrouded in mystery and not yet running, the interest in Pinterest Club is at an all-time high! Limited space is available.

Rainbow Club – SMS strives to be an inclusive, safe and welcoming school. The Rainbow Club embodies these beliefs at its core! Join Mme Lafortune in Room 214 for unstructured hang-out time as a safe place for LGBTQIA+ students and their allies. You’ll belong here, and your friends will too!
