Halloween and D.E.A.R

Posted on 2021-10-30 07:00:00 +0000 UTC

Greetings SMS Families,

Yesterday was a classic middle-school mash-up. A positive, zany energy floated throughout the school as everyone donned their creative costumes. Halloween at SMS goes far beyond costumes – it gives classes the opportunity to create community and culture with each other. There were parties, contests, skits, and other festivities that energized our school.

As a testament to our teachers’ creativity, we decided to hold our Drop Everything And Read (Love your Library Day) at the same time as our Halloween Costume day. Students and teachers flocked to the hallways at the same time to literally (literally!) drop everything and read! The photos below exude the silence that was felt for a brief half-hour while everyone focused on a book.

Silence and a thousand words

Cowpokes and Devils. Is that a cow down there?

As always, our CEAs (etcetera) really left a ‘mark’ on the school…

Mr. White – One Nerdy Biscuit?

Locally-sourced Fancy Mustard!

Have you heard this one? “A Pig and Unicorn walk into a school…”

Principal McGonagall and Dobby make the rounds!

Enjoy the weekend everyone, and keep your eyes peeled for the Aurora Borealis tonight!
