Student Creativity and Hard Work Captures Community Spirit

Posted on 2020-09-23 07:00:00 +0000 UTC

Congratulations Claire!

This young Phoenix has obtained funding from a successful, community-oriented, grant application. Claire applied to get support for an idea that would help bring her classmates together in spirit, during a very tricky time. After all, our current situation can make things difficult to connect with people, when we must remain physically apart. These masks reflect the SMS spirit and are custom made by Claire! She is making them for her entire class. The masks will come in grey with an orange inner lining OR orange with a grey lining. In either case, they can be reversed to switch it up a little and still get the SMS school colours and initials out there for everyone to see!

We are very proud of her efforts and her initiative – a true Pheonix! We know that her classmates will appreciate these custom masks. We know this could inspire others to come up with some cool ideas to share here at SMS and out in the larger community.  I look forward to letting our SMS families and friends know about many student highlights throughout the year – so keep up the creative and inspiring work SMS!

This student project was possible by funding through the Shuswap Community Foundation. We encourage all interested students and families to apply for their own opportunities to great things! Here is the link: http://shuswapfoundation.ca/grants/small-grants/

Kind regards,

Sydney Griffith
