Thanksgiving Message from the Principal

Posted on 2020-10-09 07:00:00 +0000 UTC

Dear SMS Families:

Gratitude is a valued and important part of life. It is what I have experienced during my first few weeks here at SMS, and as a new member of the Salmon Arm Community. Every day, I am motivated by what I see. I pause to observe the devotion of the staff and their unique ability to teach students during this unusual time. I optimistically look for the support of our parents and I am impressed by the kindness and patience shown. It helps us do our best with where we are at in the world!

I believe that the success of any school requires mutual respect and inclusiveness.  We will continue to work to nurture a culture of caring which is focused on the goal of providing a safe learning environment.  I know that the SMS staff is committed to continuing this focus and supporting our families during this historical school year.

I am thankful that SMS continues to strive for excellence, to grow stronger by our diversity, and to cultivate an open and positive school climate.

Unfortunately, it is difficult to meet with parents at this time, but I hope you will reach out and chat if you need teacher input, or advice, or support. Of course this is true also if you would like to talk to us in the office.

If we stay in touch, we can all do our best for the children in our care. We certainly will work hard to understand and listen.

During Thanksgiving, I share my gratitude for parents being such an important part of our student’s education. On behalf of the SMS staff, I would like to thank you for your continued support and wish you all a safe and happy holiday.

I look forward to seeing everyone back here on Tuesday October 13!

Kind Regards to you and your loved ones,

Sydney Griffith
Principal
