Wellness Day – Grade 8 Middle Years Conference

Posted on 2021-05-17 07:00:00 +0000 UTC

On Wednesday May 5, grade 8 students and their teachers experienced a very interactive and engaging morning that brought mental health and resiliency strategies to the forefront of our thoughts. During this historic time, many of us have come to appreciate, with a new depth of understanding, the importance of tending to this aspect of our lives together. This conference provided an opportunity for everyone to experience wellness concepts and practices in ways that reflect indigenous perspectives and culture. There was a Keynote and story by Justin outside on our bleechers and a very interesting cultural presenter, Laura Grizzlypaws in our courtyard. Kaeli and Theresa led a Metis feather workshop in the library with beautiful results and our SMS teachers each led a mindful forest walk that proved to be a powerful and popular session too!

I hope you enjoy these photos. We were proud of our students and so happy to have these snapshots of our school time to share with you.

Kind regards,

Sydney Griffith,

principal
